Vaishno Devi Yatra

A 3-day Vaishno Devi yatra from Jammu or Delhi, with Raghunath Temple and Bahu Fort in Jammu

3 days, from Jammu, from ₹11,999 per person

The Vaishno Devi Yatra is a three-day pilgrimage to the holy cave of Mata Vaishno Devi, in the Trikuta hills above Katra. From Jammu, the first day also takes you to the Raghunath Temple and Bahu Fort in Jammu city. The second day is the yatra itself: the climb from Katra past Charan Paduka and Ardhkuwari to the Bhawan, darshan of the three Pindis in the holy cave, and the visit to the Bhairon Mandir that completes the yatra.

You stay two nights in Katra, in Standard rooms, with breakfast included. The yatra day is very long, with about 6 to 8 hours up and 4 to 5 hours down on foot, plus the darshan queue, so we start early. Ponies, palkis, battery cars, the ropeway and the helicopter are available on the route at your own cost, and can make the day shorter.

The price covers the land part only. Train and flight tickets are not included. Yatra registration is free and mandatory, and is issued only by the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board. Registration can be suspended in bad weather, so the plan may change. Carry warm clothes, as the Bhawan is cold at night.

Spiritual significance

  • The Bhawan is the holy cave of Mata Vaishno Devi, where the Goddess is worshipped in three natural Pindis rather than idols.
  • The yatra follows the legend of the Goddess along the climb, from Charan Paduka to the Garbh Joon cave at Ardhkuwari.
  • Bhairon Mandir completes the yatra, by tradition, after the darshan at the Bhawan.
  • Jammu adds the Raghunath Temple and Bahu Fort, two well-known temples and landmarks of the city.
