Mathura Vrindavan Yatra

A relaxed 3-day Braj pilgrimage from Delhi to Vrindavan, Mathura, Barsana and Govardhan

3 days, from Delhi, from ₹8,999 per person

The Mathura Vrindavan Yatra is a three-day pilgrimage from Delhi to the land of Krishna. It covers Vrindavan's best-known temples, Banke Bihari, Radha Raman, Madan Mohan, Prem Mandir, ISKCON and Nidhivan, then Mathura's Janmabhoomi, Dwarkadhish Temple and Vishram Ghat, and finally Barsana and Govardhan.

You stay two nights in a Standard room in Vrindavan, with breakfast included. The plan is built around the temple timings, with a rest in the afternoon when most Braj temples are closed, and an evening show at Prem Mandir and the Yamuna aarti at Vishram Ghat.

The best months are October to March, and the festivals of Holi (including Lathmar Holi at Barsana) and Janmashtami are very crowded. Timings, security rules and photography rules differ by temple and change often, so we confirm them locally. Dress modestly, keep belongings secure from monkeys, and carry a photo ID.

Spiritual significance

  • Mathura is the traditional birthplace of Krishna and one of the seven sacred cities (Sapta Puri), and Vrindavan is where he is said to have spent his childhood.
  • Banke Bihari, Radha Raman and Madan Mohan show the old devotional tradition of Vrindavan, while Prem Mandir and ISKCON show its newer face.
  • Barsana is the home town of Radha in Braj tradition, and Govardhan is the hill Krishna is said to have lifted.
  • A slow pace, with a midday rest and a night stay in Vrindavan, makes the temple visits more comfortable.
