Dwarka Somnath Yatra

A relaxed 5-day pilgrimage from Ahmedabad to Dwarka, Bet Dwarka, Nageshwar and Somnath

5 days, from Ahmedabad, from ₹18,999 per person

The Dwarka Somnath Yatra is a five-day pilgrimage from Ahmedabad to two of Gujarat's most sacred coastal towns: Dwarka, the city of Krishna, and Somnath, home of the first Jyotirlinga. The pace is relaxed, with two nights in each town so you are not rushing between temples.

The journey covers Dwarkadhish Temple, Bet Dwarka by boat, Nageshwar Jyotirlinga, Rukmini Devi Temple and Gomti Ghat in Dwarka, then Somnath Temple, Bhalka Tirth and the Triveni Sangam near Somnath. Breakfast is included each morning, and your afternoons are kept free for rest.

The first and last days are long drives, about 7 to 9 hours each (estimates), with lunch breaks on the way. Temple timings and rules on phones and cameras vary, so we will confirm them locally. The tour runs all year, and the cooler months, from October to March, are the most comfortable.

Spiritual significance

  • Dwarka is one of the four Char Dham and one of the seven Sapta Puri, and by tradition was the capital of Krishna's kingdom by the sea.
  • Bet Dwarka is the island that tradition names as Krishna's family residence, reached by a short boat ride.
  • Nageshwar and Somnath are both among the twelve Jyotirlingas of Shiva, so one journey brings Shiva and Krishna together.
  • Bhalka Tirth marks the place where, in tradition, Krishna left the earth, and the Triveni Sangam at Somnath is a place of purification where rivers meet the sea.
  • A slow pace, with two nights in each town, leaves time for prayer instead of hurrying.
