Amritsar Golden Temple Yatra
A 3-day Amritsar journey from Delhi or Chandigarh: the Golden Temple, Jallianwala Bagh, the Partition Museum and the Wagah border
3 days, from Delhi, from ₹16,999 per person
The Amritsar Golden Temple Yatra is a three-day journey to the holy city of the Sikhs. It centres on Harmandir Sahib, the Golden Temple, the holiest shrine of Sikhism, which welcomes people of every faith, with its golden sanctum on the holy pool and the langar, the free community kitchen. You also see Jallianwala Bagh, the memorial of 1919, the Partition Museum, the Durgiana Temple, and the daily flag-lowering ceremony at the Wagah-Attari border.
You stay two nights in Amritsar, in Standard rooms, with breakfast included. The Delhi start has a long drive of about 7.5 hours each way, and the Chandigarh start about 4 hours. The last day is an early drop, so you reach home in good time.
At the Golden Temple, cover your head, take off your shoes, and carry no tobacco or alcohol. For the Wagah ceremony, carry a photo ID and arrive early, and note that the ceremony time changes with the season. The Partition Museum is closed on Mondays. The best months are October to March.
